OUR STORY

Raymel Viciedo, passionate about the dairy industry, achieved early success in Cuba before having to abandon his dreams in 2009 in the face of a failing system. His arrival in Canada in 2013 marked a new beginning. Ten years of learning, adaptation and hard work allowed him to acquire in-depth expertise and master the workings of the Canadian market. Driven by an unquenched passion, in 2025 he launched La Guajira, a dairy company embodying his resilience and commitment to a responsible business model.

La Guajira is more than just a company; it symbolizes the pursuit of a long-interrupted dream. This ambitious project, led in partnership with Simon Ménard, an expert in marketing and strategy, aims to become a major player in the dairy industry. The company stands out for its commitment to strong human values, the quality of its products, respect for Latin American tradition and a vision of a sustainable future. Co-founder

Raymel Viciedo Valero

Behind La Guajira is Raymel Viciedo, a dairy industry enthusiast for over 15 years. With a bachelor's and master's degree in food science and technology from the University of Havana, he managed bacterial culture and yogurt production plants in Cuba before making his mark in Quebec. Cheesemaker, technologist, production manager, operations supervisor... he has tried his hand at everything and contributed to the start-up of several dairy plants. Today, as a business developer at FROMAGEX, one of the largest distributors of dairy ingredients and equipment, he continues to put his expertise at the service of the industry. With hard work, passion and a deep commitment to quality, Raymel has built a solid reputation in the Quebec dairy community.

Simon Menard

Simon Ménard is a versatile entrepreneur and urban designer with a Master's degree in Urban Design from the University of Montreal. This has allowed him to develop expertise in branding, digital marketing and project management. He masters strategic planning and complex project management, and also has strong skills in graphic design and creation. His experience includes new product development and brand management, as demonstrated by his online wild meat sales project where he managed the brand and product line expansion (spices, processed meats). Motivated by the promotion of the boreal and local food pantry, his creative approach is a major asset for his new business project with La Guajira and MOO RICO.
